Act I -
Noyes Fludde
by Benjamin Britten
Act II -
Out of the Ark
Benjamin Britten’s Noyes Fludde - Based on the miracle plays of the Middle Ages to teach an illiterate population Bible stories, this light opera tells the story of Noah and the Ark. It was performed with the addition of a pageant processional, masks, giant puppets, and dance.
A 21st Century retelling of the story exploring the symbolism of the flood/water, the ark and the rainbow and the themes of our interdependence as strands in the web of life wherein lies our power. Conceived by and artistic direction by Karen Dowcett. Original score written by James Dowcett

A collaboration of community arts and performance groups, students, friends and neighbors presented a re-interpretation of Benjamin Britten's work, "Noyes Fludde" conducted by Chatham Chorale Director, Maggie Bossi and James Dowcett's "Out of the Ark" conducted by the composer.
